This week Dave and Scott discuss a quiet release update to CFBuilder. Then they talk about Adam Tuttle's new book on REST as well as the difficulties he had when attempting to switch from Adobe CF to Railo.
They then discuss a recent post where a developer was looking for advice on how to upgrade from ColdFusion 6 to ColdFusion 11. Dave and Scott have definite opinions on the subject.
Dave talks about a switch for number generation that speeds the CF server up exponentionally!
Finally, Scott asks that if you were to have the opportunity to give one piece of programming advice to your younger self, what would it be.
This week, Scott is back fresh from Walt Disney World and ready to opine! Scott has a bunch of corrections from last week's show he wants to discuss with Dave. The two also talk about the next version of Mircosoft's .Net being open sourced and what implications that may and should have for Adobe CF. They mention Adobe releasing a chart showing which versions of the Java JDK each version of CF supports, and talk about how CF Updater 3 has been updated. And they close off with their favorite segment "Stupidity Overflow"!
With Scott away, Dave invites Matt "The Awesome Producer (retired)"
Gifford to fill in. They discuss cf.Objectives impending name change,
and the CF 11Updater 3 early release. They hound Microsoft on Windows
vulerabilities and how their Surface marketing is backfiring. They also
discuss a Mac vulnerabilty and an anti-virus product to AVOID! Dave
comes to some realizations about his blog and, of course, they round out
the show with even more Stack Overflow gems.
On this episode, Dave recounts the happenings at CF Summit in Vegas, including his presentation on CF Client with Simon Free. They also cover the contest Adobe is currently having for the best new mobile app created with CF Client, discuss the recent spate of updates to Adobe CF, and whether or not Adobe should pick a framework to ship with.
This week Dave and Scott have an update on the Target security breach, discuss Synergy (using one mouse and keyboard on multiple systems), the UBlock ad blocking Chrome plug-in, the Cold Fusion Builder update, voting on CF bugs, Scott hassling newbs on Stack Overflow, solving problems with Source Control and the new Taffy update.
